Running Away !

Image
Running is popular of course. Its cheap, burns calories, releases endorphins, makes you look attractive now that you have a hobby.  In Udaan (2018), 17 year old Rohan is made to run every morning with his physically and emotionally abusive father - something he detests. Even more so when his father races him in the last leg and beats him every time. At the end of the movie, when Rohan decided to leave home, he does so by staging a walkout in front of his father and step wife. His father chases him across the homes of Jamshedpur. The final punch coming when Rohan increases his speed. The man who beat his son (physically and in the daily races) sees Rohan first barely out of reach and then aeons away. Rohan turns and hives a smirk. The smile of a man who's finally made himself seen and heard. Cut to this scene from 'The worst person in the world'(2021). Julie is in along term relationship with Aksel, a comic book artist 15 years her senior. The stress and realities of the rel...

Decision Time

After the ug results where I wasted no time to blame my parents for every misfortune to appear at my doorstep- they have now withdrawn and left me to make the all important next step. Now it's going to be entirely on me. Lots of chatter and input distract your mind - some validated, others not. The stress of making a decision from which will have repercussions can be overwhelming- makes me not wonder about decision paralysis! Regardless I now must press on- Medicine is annoying no doubt - endless notes, references to be done, seems like you're doing very little for the patient, chronic unsatisfied patients. Surgery, ortho is out just because I absolutely cannot stand trauma. Paediatrics has even lesser pay than Medicine Radiology doesnt have as much of professional growth (I might eat my words later). Dermatology will require me to be active on instagram. The others are out just because of the perceived low status - (my mind is filthy and needs validation - float me) - patholo...

Trapped

What do you do when you feel trapped? Like rick grimes stuck in a military talk, I wish I could hear the radio burst into static - and show me the way out. My biggest gripe is about the binds and seat leaving penalties. Restrictive, narrow minded, preventing exploration. Why should I know what I want to do right now? Why can't I venture out and figure it out for myself?? Take all the time I want.

Terrified

Ask about attitudes to the word 'doctor' amid a pandemic and most people would be quick to associate them with words like 'Brave!' or 'Warier!'. But I don't feel either of them-in fact I don't want to feel anyone of them. How bad is it that I feel exhausted just by hearing about what we're supposed to be doing in the hospital. Most of the time I feel like I'm the only one who isn't here all excited by disinfectants blood etc. etc. But this time I think I'm not the only one put-off by mentions of ventilators and oxygen saturations....
